How It All Began:

Our journey began in early 2015 when my husband, Reed, and I got the surprise of a lifetime. We found out I was pregnant…with twins! I was a high school English teacher at the time, and I felt a calling to make a change that would allow me to stay home part-time and spend as much time as possible with our twins when they arrived. Reed and I began praying. We have always talked about owning our own business one day, so we tossed around several ideas. My mother-in-law, Dianna, owned a boutique in another town so we were familiar with the retail business and I have always had a heart and niche for fashion, so we decided to take a leap of faith and start a store in our own town of Tifton, Georgia. I actually drew out the logo design on a napkin sitting in our favorite Mexican restaurant eating dinner with Reed and Dianna!

From there, Plantation 59 Apparel Co. was born and we opened the doors on our first store September 30, 2015. A few days later, the most precious twin boys, Hayes and Branynn, were born. 2015 was an exciting (and busy!) year for my family. We welcomed our third son, Banks, into our crazy chaos in June 2019. Our business has been so blessed and in 2018, we expanded into a retail location three times the size as where we started. And now, our journey on the web begins!

I have loved every minute of watching Plantation 59 grow, including giving back to the community we love, using our business as a platform to spread love to others, and sharing our love of fashion with you all!

Our prayer is that as you put on your new look, you are encouraged to put on love and shine bright for Jesus!

Plantation 59 Today:

Plantation 59 has grown into something we prayed for and dreamed of but never fathomed it would be! We have over 10 fabulous ladies on staff and each of them play such important key roles in keeping Plantation 59 running! Some of our very first employees (affectionately known as "the originals"), are now working for us full time and are called "Aunt B" (Rebecca, our Online Sales Director & the woman behind-the-scenes of Plantation59.com) and "Lou Lou" (Cortney, our storefront manager) by our children! We are a big happy family and love each other like sisters! Our storefront started in 2015 in a small 2,000 sq. foot space and in 2018, we moved 2 doors down into a 6,000 sq. foot space! We have been blessed and are so tickled to see where this new journey on the web will take us!

The Story Behind the Name “Plantation 59”:

When coming up with the name of our store, we wanted to honor my daddy, Phillip, who passed away in 2014, and stay true to our southern roots. My daddy instilled a work ethic and passion for the outdoors into me that led me to pursue a career managing a wildlife “plantation.” Daddy was born in the year 1959. We pieced together “Plantation” and “59”, and they fit together like a puzzle.

My daddy and I spent a lot of time together in the outdoors. One of our favorite places was on the Alapaha River, but there is one particular spot that we spent a lot of our time together that holds a special place in my heart. It’s a high bluff overlooking the river with a big oak tree in the distance.

That oak tree became the centerpiece of our original store logo. Although our logo has changed just a bit, an oak leaf remains to always remind us of my daddy and where it all began.
